Nepal 2010 - Langtang, Kyangin Gompa, Gosankund and over the pass to Therapati

This is a pictorial story of a trek in Nepal in 2010. This trek is with daughter Pippa and friend Mandi. After a visit to Swyambunath, we travel from Kathmandu to Shyaprubensi by bus and then trek to Langtang and on up to Kyangin Gompa. This was a stunning trek and so it is difficult to imagine that the beautiful village of Langtang was almost completely destroyed in the 2014 earthquake. My heart goea out to the people of Nepal who lost so much.

We then backtrack before climbing up to Sin Gompa and to the Lake at Gosankund. This route is in full pilgrimage mode with dozens of temporary shelters along the way.

We cross the Laurabina La pass at 4,600 metres in pouring rain before dropping into Helambu and the village of Tharepati. We got soaked and we astounded to see groups of pilgrims going in the opposite direction many of whom were only wearing light sandals.
